Hazardous Waste Disposal & Vitrification

Waste Disposal

Frazier-Simplex, Inc. has developed furnace designs for hazardous waste vitrification processes, including applications for nuclear waste, PCBs, and various other waste streams.

With the increasing volume and complexity of hazardous waste generated daily worldwide, safe disposal—and in some cases, permanent storage—poses significant challenges.

To address these issues, Frazier-Simplex has partnered with two environmentally innovative organizations in the United States to explore new methods of hazardous waste elimination. Over five years of collaborative research and development have yielded successful results.

Through vitrification and thermal elimination technologies, three distinct hazardous waste disposal techniques have been identified and refined. Notably, two of these methods produce marketable byproducts, and one has progressed to full-scale operational status.

The following are some of the key elements Frazier-Simplex provided to these projects:

  • Refractory design for radioactive sludge vitrification

  • Furnace design for PCB contamination

  • Construction and commissioning services

  • Controlled electric drains and safety related equipment

  • Installation of equipment to existing furnaces

  • Repair of refractory substructure and/or superstructure

  • Furnace audits - visual and thermographic inspections
